Cannibal Lullaby 2013
Galerie Nathalie Obadia, Brussels
Death leaves behind a sense of a void, barrenness, which is devoid of a ‘presence’. In this show, the audience could see through that bare space into that part of reality, which is refused to be seen as a shape, as a body. So the fading and re-appearing shadows facilitate the audiences’ encounter with denied, repressed desires of individuals.
With the watercolor drawings on paper, the etched figures on plexiglass created a play of light and shadow; shadows that become dark reflections of the visible inhabiting the grey and bleak areas of subconscious desires.
