This was my first video, created during a residency in New York. At the time I was creating works with human hair- working on my narratives on the body, sexuality, detachment, unbelongings etc. During the residency I made hair sculptures- beautiful objects and shapes. For the first time I used my body and placed these hair sculptures on different parts, bends and curves; where the palpable movement of breathing got captured in the movement- both evident and subtle. The whole body is breathing, always. And this constant action is so fragile- just like the strand of hairs. So I juxtaposition the two together and for the first time attempted to make a video. I mirrored the images in the process, creating visuals and narratives that were open to interpretations- abstract in essence.
