SHARJAH MARCH MEETING ,Global Art Cartographies and New Art Histories, Sharjah Biennale 2023
iWitness is a lecture performance accompanied by a video staging institutional critique in a non-language. Situated in the context of ‘Global Art Cartographies’ organised by the March meeting, Sharjah Biennale 2023 , it is a para-fictional intervention thinking through the crisis of art history, extractivism, and technology at the conjunction of my methods of lingual anarchy, performance, and playbour.
The lecture performance was an outcome of my brief dalliance with ChatGPT, the AI chatbot and furthered it with an emotive, gestural, embodied and non-lingual language of conduction.
to initiate cultural colonisation together with the audience
It was attuned towards fabulating an absurdist and dystopian mirror image of our times — where machine learning dictates and constantly pushes the edge of ‘new’ — be it ‘new’ media or ‘new’ art history.
