Site-specific installation with music and Re-drawing (on existing old work on paper) with glow paint

The notions of transformation, metamorphoses, and resurrection are incorporated in a challenging and thought-provoking way.

The focal point of the installation is my own drawings which I had painted over and continued working on so it could have a new life. At the same time, I  also examined my own and the viewer’s usual reluctance to change something that is working well – either the work itself or the style that it is executed in. The notions of transformation, metamorphoses, and resurrection are incorporated in a challenging and thought-provoking way.

The result is both sinister as well as very funny which reminds us that everything is in a constant state of flux. By treating art in this manner, the installation points to the role of artworks as investment objects that are often removed from any possibility of change. It further demonstrates how an artwork can be resurrected – not in the classic Christian sense – but in a more universal form where that which dies and decomposes, provides vigor to that which is starting to germinate.
